Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CSS) Action Alerts, Fact Sheets & Reports
CCS: A Classic "False Solution"
Largely driven by federal corporate CCS tax credits (e.g., 45Q), a massive upsurge in compressed carbon dioxide pipeline projects from corn ethanol plants across Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Illinois for sequestration in Illinois is in the planning and permitting process. There are myriad reasons that carbon capture and sequestration is a false solution to significantly reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions, global warming, and climate change. Grassroots resistance to these false solutions is strong.
ACTION ALERTS
The state of California has mandated the blending of ethanol with gasoline to help meet its Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) requirements and is now updating its LCFS. This proposed action would incentivize carbon capture projects in Iowa, greatly expand the ethanol market, and promote building more dangerous pipelines. This is a time for the public to make comments and provide feedback on this dangerous proposal.
